Birdworld’s new outdoor play has officially taken flight, with the UK’s largest bird park hosting a special VIP launch.

More than 400 guests visited the Park before it opened to the public, giving VIPs a sneak peek and exclusive playtime in the stunning new Treetop Adventure area.

Greeted by Birdworld’s new loveable penguin mascot, ‘Penguin’, excited children and their families were treated to a bubble show from local artist Bonnie, while dining on pastries, fruit and soft drinks, before being welcomed by Matt Hill, Director of Birdworld.

With a guest list full of stakeholders, influencers and competition winners, notable attendees included the Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Graham Hill, his consort Mrs Britt Hill, MP for East Hampshire Conservatives Damien Hinds, and model, author and multi-award-winning content creator Louise Boyce.

To mark the official opening, a ribbon was stretched across the play area’s entrance and ceremonially cut by Aneeshwar Kunchala, the 10-year-old “mini-David Attenborough”,
television presenter and Britain’s Got Talent finalist. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the natural world has been a perfect fit for Birdworld’s “Naturally Playful” ethos, which
encourages families and children to explore, play and learn about the environment in creative and meaningful ways.

Following the ribbon cutting, guests ventured into the impressive play area – created with children of all ages in mind.

The spectacular wooden “nest-inspired” structure marks the first phase of Birdworld’s multi- million-pound redevelopment. It offers a beautiful, immersive experience that blends
seamlessly with the natural landscape. Featuring bird nest towers, water play, connecting bridges and a spiral clamber net, the area invites children to explore as if they were part of the woodland. The magical ‘Spriglet Village’ also includes an accessible pathway and interactive play ensuring a welcoming space for all abilities, including wheelchair users.

“Today marks a truly special milestone for Birdworld,” said Matt Hill, Director of Birdworld. “Seeing so many happy faces exploring the new play area for the first time was incredibly rewarding – it’s exactly the kind of experience we hoped to create when we began our redevelopment journey.

“This new outdoor play is all about celebrating nature, imagination and play, and we’re thrilled to see it come to life. It’s just the beginning of what we’ve got planned, and we’re so grateful to all the families, partners and supporters who’ve joined us on the journey so far.”

The next phase of the redevelopment will be the eagerly anticipated indoor Play Barn. The 17,000 sq ft café and play area will make it the largest indoor play area in the region and will transform Birdworld into a year-round destination, further cementing Birdworld’s bold new identity rooted in nature, playfulness and discovery.
