A successful Penguin-themed Half Term!

Birdworld hosted a celebration of all things penguin this February Half Term educating visitors all about the amazing black and white seabird

The park hosted a packed programmed of activities including penguin-themed arts and crafts and a penguin exploration trail around the park to find special painted pebbles which spelt a secret word.

Visitors could also enter a special competition on the day in which lucky winners aged under 7 won a Birdworld cuddly penguin toy and children aged 7 and over won the chance to help the keepers feed the park’s African penguins.

The park’s live penguin feeding sessions hosted by keepers with both Birdworld’s Humboldt and African penguins were a great hit with visitors. The talks gave the chance to learn more about the species up close as well as learning about their diet and daily routine.

Mark Anderson, Park General Manager at Birdworld, said: “February Half Term was a fantastic week of penguin-themed fun and it was great to kick off the park’s 50th Anniversary year with such a turn out! We hope that all our visitors throughout the week learnt a lot about penguins and Birdworld’s conservation efforts. The Birdworld team are now looking forward to our upcoming 50th Anniversary Eggstravaganza which will run throughout the Easter Holidays and to hope welcome visitors from across Surrey and Hampshire for the festivities.”
