LOVE YOUR ZOO WEEK PROGRAMME
Tuesday 30th May – Friday 2nd June 2017
We are pleased to be supporting Love Your Zoo Week. This a national initiative run by BIAZA (British and Irish Association of Zoo and Aquariums) to raise awareness of the fantastic Zoos within our county.
The Keepers will be carrying out additional talks all of this week. The times of events are listed below, however timings may be subject to change slightly. Make sure you look out for the signs with the Love Your Zoo Logo on them around the park!
11.00am – 4.00pm – Arts and Crafts Tent on the Safari Lawn – Make some Love Your Zoo themed arts and crafts.
11.00am – 4.00pm – Face Painting (charges apply)
11.00am – Humboldt Penguin Feeding – Join our bird keepers who will amaze you with great facts while the penguins themselves dart and dive for their dinner. At the Humboldt Penguins.
11.30am – Great Bustards – Learn about the Great Bustards and what we are doing to help support them in the wild.
11.45am – Pelican Feeding – Watch the keepers feeding the pelicans
12.00pm – Zoo Babies – Watch our babies being hand fed, and learn all about how we look after them outside the rearing room – near to outback landing.
12.00pm – Farm activities– Take part in feeding activities. (please see farm for daily activity information) (On Friday 2nd June, this session will take place at 3.15pm)
12.30pm – Animal Encounters on the Farm – A chance to get close to some smaller ‘cute and cuddly’ farm animals.
1.00pm – Discovery Theatre Show – This indoor presentation showcases a range of birds allowing them to display their natural behaviour.
1.30pm – Parrots in Flight – Come along and ask the keepers questions about parrots during their feeding round. (please be aware this talk will contain nuts)
2.00pm – Animal Encounters on the Farm – A chance to get close to some smaller ‘cute and cuddly’ farm animals.
2.00pm – Flamingos – Join the keepers in meeting our fabulous flamboyance of Flamingos
2.45pm – Outdoor Flying Display – Be amazed as different birds from all round the world swoop overhead and skim close by in our fantastic outdoor display.
3.15pm – Meet a Keeper – after the flying display a keeper will be available to answer any of your questions.
3.30pm – Penguin feeding – Join our bird keepers who will amaze you with great facts while the penguins themselves dart and dive for their dinner. At Penguin Beach.
3.45pm – Hornbill talk – Watch the birds catching their treats and find out more about them from our keepers.
4.00pm – Owl Prowl – Join our bird keepers on their daily round to feed the Owls and Birds of Prey.
Tuesday 30th May: 10.00 am – The Sheep Shearer will be down on the Farm.
Wednesday 31st May: Goat Foot Trimming will be happening throughout the day on the Farm.
